Rolled my ankle yesterday playing at the park with my kids...🙄 Fortunately, of all the times I've rolled my ankle, this was one of the mildest, and I'd like to think it's because 1. I'm more educated now on the healing process, and 2. I've done a bit (not a ton) of mobility work on my ankles and have been intermittently working on building tissue resilience. So most of the day yesterday invovled moving my ankle within it's pain free range of motion. I probably did hundreds (maybe even broke a thousand) ankle CARs yesterday. Sitting, laying, standing...from any position I was moving through my pain free range. When I'd stop, I'd notice my ankle would begin to stiffen up. So, I was curious how my ankle would look and feel this morning after hours of little movement. I was happy to wake up to essentially the same ankle I had when I went to bed. No additional inflammation (my swelling was very minimal to start with) and no reductions in my pain free range. It's definitely still sore, and I don't have acces to all my range. Sometimes your kids just completely surprise you.... This morning that happened with this one. She woke up around 5 something whining that she was shivering. Hubby went to check her, she wasn't shivering, maybe she was still sleeping? But he picked her up and brought her to our room. She laid down in our bed and immediately cuddle me. I loved it. She was still and quiet for a while. I thought she had fallen asleep. Eventually, she kissed me on the nose and said "I love you SOOO much". I smiled and told her I also loved her sooooo much. Then, she looked at me and said "Mommy, what are you grateful for?" She didn't give me a chance to respond. Anyone else ready for a break? Between my dishes piling up by the second and feeling like I barely have time to move my body, I’m finding it more crucial than ever to prioritize my time so I don't get hit with overwhelm. In these moments, sometimes I seriously just head to the bathroom, close the door and just be completely off mom duty... just a few sweet minutes. In the stillness, I’m so grateful that in spite of everything going on right now, I get to do what I love, be around those that I love, and have the opportunity to connect with some amazing athletes.
