This 45 minute chest opening practice is focused on dissolving tension across the chest and the fronts of the shoulders that can easily develop from the demands and repetitive movements of your sport and poor posture. This practice consists of gentle stretches to help to create more space across the chest, as well as more dynamic movements that balance the tightness you’re experiencing in the front by promoting strength in the back.
This type of practice is appropriate during your pre-competitive and competitive seasons when the intensity and frequency of your sport-specific training is high, and as a result, increasing the potential for sport-specific tightnesses to develop. By making sure to address flexibility you can help maintain proper mobility and movement as you continue to develop strength via your training.
